“Origins” N° CO-207

A shoulder bag made of brown goat leather, blue and mustard wax fabric, and mustard-yellow lining.

"Cogitations" Range / Collection Femininities Breasts, the cradle of humanity. A bold yet practical bag paying tribute to our origins — a piece created in the spirit of inclusion and representation.

Its story

Breasts — the cradle of humanity.
With this third piece in the triptych on Femininity (completed by “Summer Body” and “Pink October – Redux”), I wanted to rethink representation in fashion and art, far from the usual clichés, and pay tribute to the origins of Woman (and yes, of Man too).

This series of bags explores women’s bodies through a pattern that, for three years, has reminded me of a bikini — without my knowing what to do with it — until this concept suddenly made it all clear.

For this version, I looked for a leather shade reminiscent of dark skin, while being careful to avoid any clichés. The goal was not to make a “leatherwork blackface” but to step away from a Eurocentric approach.
Once again in this series, the leather is not upcycled, as I couldn’t find the right tone among my usual sources. The wax fabric comes from a fellow seamstress, and the lining was made from an upcycled cushion.
Once more, I sculpted two breasts from high-density foam scraps bought from an upholsterer.

Thus was born this bag — elegant and functional — that celebrates tradition and modernity in the same breath.

Charlotte’s baby wrap

After ordering a bag from stock, Charlotte realized it would be too small. I offered to make her a custom, larger version, and she sent me her baby wrap to transform.
