“Old Country” N° CO-167

A wallet made from chestnut faux suede and geometric-patterned wool fabric, with a viscose lining featuring a geometric print.

"Cogitations" Range / Collection Memory Blending rustic and contemporary, masculine and feminine. A hands-on demonstration with this very chic and versatile wallet-clutch.

Its story

When I designed and created the “Old Country” hybrid bag, I had planned to make a matching accessory using the offcuts—but I wasn’t sure which pattern to use.
After discovering and making the “Plum-Y Oakie” version of this here wallet-clutch pattern, I realized it was the perfect fit to continue exploring the masculine-feminine, rustic-modern contrast I had begun with that jacket and bag.

So I decided to dive into it with materials that felt far less feminine and polished.
Its interesting shapes and potential for contrast made it a great choice.
I was able to use up most of the leftover leather (I still have a bit), and much of the lining (there’s less of that left), which I first “de-batted”—a laborious but necessary task to take advantage of its fineness.

The soft, supple leather, the rough yet cozy wool, the slippery satin lining... everything came together harmoniously to play up those contrasts.
I also emphasized the structured, geometric pattern by preserving as much alignment as possible, and the matte antique brass luxury hardware provided the finishing touch.

The result: a delightfully unexpected and practical wallet—perfect to slip into your bag or use on its own thanks to the removable wrist strap.

Common questions

Where/How are they made?

I make all my products in my workshop in the city of St Just St Rambert in the Loire department (42). I use several machines depending on needs: a professional sewing machine, an industrial sewing machine, a serger, a press (for eyelets, rivets, etc.), an iron press, and a motorized skiver.

I carefully choose my technical supplies (interfacings, hardware, etc.) and some innovative materials (such as cotton-backed cork or silicon faux leather) from trusted suppliers.

My other fabrics and materials are mostly upcycled and come from renowned babywearing brands, dormant stocks from Haute-Couture/High-End houses (clothing and furnishings), scraps from High-End leather goods houses, as well as “seconds” from specialized boutiques (especially for faux leather) or from personal collections found at flea markets or on specialized second-hand websites.

"I like it, but I already have plenty of bags."

This one isn’t “just another bag”: it’s a true work of art with a soul and a story, not a simple accessory.

What materials do you use to make my pieces?

Your sentimental fabric or leather is always at the heart of the project. For the rest, here is what I use by default:

  • Exterior (beyond the fabric you provide): salvaged leather by default (cowhide, lambskin, goat, pig…); optionally: certified organic cotton canvas, cork on 100% cotton backing, Nisiar (grape marc “leather”)… No faux leather, ever.
  • Lining: 100% cotton poplin, cretonne or satin (organic where possible), 100% linen canvas, wool or wool-silk blend…
  • Interfacings (by design): certified organic cotton batting, Decovil Light or Heavy, Texon, Jeffitex…
  • Hardware: metal only — gold, antique gold, chrome, gunmetal, antique bronze, copper/rose gold, matte black, rainbow… Special colours available on request (extra cost and lead time).
  • Handles & straps: leather, canvas, your own fabric (if enough quantity), cork… in simple or bi-material styles. Or pre-made strap in 100% organic cotton or polycotton, plain or multicolour, per brief.
