“In Vite Veritas”  CO-204

A zippered pouch sewn from a kind of dappled grape leather in brown and a baby-wearing scarf scrap with Ginkgo Biloba patterns in brown on a powdered pink background.

"Cogitations" Range / Collection Mémoire Dappled brown, powdered pink, soft and timeless. Heritage, craftsmanship, innovation, class... a whole program for a pouch that stands out for its capacity despite its slim design.

Its story

Light brown, dappled, slightly satin. The texture is firm and full—it softens over time, like skin. The scent evokes roasted cocoa.
This pouch is unlike anything else in my workshop because the material it’s made from didn’t exist five years ago.

At the 2024 Made in France Salon where I was exhibiting, I met the owner of a vineyard with a specific idea: to develop a line connected to the heritage of the vine?
But I couldn’t settle for just a decorative association: I needed something traceable, with a real story, without compromising my values. I searched, rejected cork (which I’d already tried and found not sturdy enough), and most “vegetal” leathers: apple, pineapple, and even grape (from Vegea)... and then I discovered Nisiar.

A French brand, a material made in France from grape pomace, but differently.
A monobloc material. No synthetic knit backing.
And no dye. The color is that of the pomace itself: the grape variety, the vintage, the estate.

Intrigued, I contacted them.
I received small samples to test.
Could it be sewn, glued, folded?
Yes—with care and the right techniques. The result is beautiful, pleasant to the touch, and satisfying for what I seek: honest pieces, with materials that can be traced and embraced.

This sample comes from the Rhône Valley, 2023 harvest, in partnership with the Perrin Family. A limited edition by nature: this vintage will never be reproduced identically.
It’s the thicker of the two versions I received: the one I preferred for its texture, which resulted in this pouch whose pattern continues to surprise me with its capacity despite its slimness and perfectly met my size constraints.
I combined it with a scrap of Levate babywearing wrap featuring a Ginkgo Biloba pattern to stay true to the plant-based spirit and the theme of heritage, with its irregular, multicolored texture that contrasts ideally with the sample.

Charlotte’s baby wrap

After ordering a bag from stock, Charlotte realized it would be too small. I offered to make her a custom, larger version, and she sent me her baby wrap to transform.

Common questions

What do you do with your production offcuts?

Your own bespoke fabric offcuts aren't covered here: they're always sent back to you with your finished piece, unless you tell me to keep them or dispose of them differently.

As for my own production offcuts: nothing is thrown away if I can help it. They're reused in my workshop for reinforcement, worked into mosaics to create larger pieces, or used as is for small creations (keychains, bookmarks...). The rest is given away depending on its nature and size: to other artisans (such as jewellery makers), or to associations, community centres and schools for their workshops.

Where/How are they made?
I make all my products in my workshop in the city of St Just St Rambert in the Loire department (42). I use several machines depending on needs: a professional sewing machine, an industrial sewing machine, a serger, a press (for eyelets, rivets, etc.), an iron press, and a manual skiver.

I carefully choose my technical supplies (interfacings, hardware, etc.) and some innovative materials (such as cotton-backed cork or silicon faux leather) from trusted suppliers.

My other fabrics and materials are mostly upcycled and come from renowned babywearing brands, dormant stocks from Haute-Couture/High-End houses (clothing and furnishings), scraps from High-End leather goods houses, as well as "seconds" from specialized boutiques (especially for faux leather) or from personal collections found at flea markets or on specialized second-hand websites.

Find out more about this on the Soulful Values page.

What materials do you use to make my pieces?
Your sentimental fabric or leather is always at the heart of the project. For the rest, here is what I use by default:
  • Exterior (beyond the fabric you provide): salvaged leather by default (cowhide, lambskin, goat, pig…); optionally: certified organic cotton canvas, cork on 100% cotton backing, Nisiar (grape marc "leather")… No faux leather, ever.
  • Lining: 100% cotton poplin, cretonne or satin (organic where possible), 100% linen canvas, wool or wool-silk blend…
  • Interfacings (by design): certified organic cotton batting, Decovil Light or Heavy, Texon, Jeffitex…
  • Hardware: metal only — gold, antique gold, chrome, gunmetal, antique bronze, copper/rose gold, matte black, rainbow… Special colours available on request (extra cost and lead time).
  • Handles & straps: leather, canvas, your own fabric (if enough quantity), cork… in simple or bi-material styles. Or pre-made strap in 100% organic cotton or polycotton, plain or multicolour, per brief.
Are your products authentic?
All my creations are numbered and come with an identity card that includes the type, model, version, number, detailed materials list, and care instructions.
I'm working on a blockchain-based authenticity certificate, I'll update this page when it's ready.
