Artisanat d'Art Made in France

Right in the middle of sorting through your closets–or those of your elders—doubt suddenly creeps in.
Grandpa’s leather jacket, a baby wrap, a wedding dress

“I really care about this
 but I’m not going to wear it anymore. So what do I do with it?”

I’m Marie Alhomme, Textile Storyteller.
I transform your sentimental textiles into high-end bags and wallets, imagined with you, so you can keep them close again—every day.

When sorting, you hesitate
 and that’s normal

You’re moving, or you’re “just” making space.
You’re sorting through a loved one’s belongings after a loss, or ahead of a move into assisted living.

And then there are those pieces you simply can’t throw away:
not your size or your style,
but too full of meaning to let go

and so they’re destined to end up in a closet.

These textiles tell something.
And you don’t want to turn the page just any way.

Why transform a sentimental textile?

Textile transformation makes it possible to:

  • honor a person or a moment;
  • share an inheritance between several children;
  • extend a family story;
  • keep a memory
 but in a living, useful form;
  • avoid waste and restore meaning;
  • make space without “clearing out blindly”...

It’s a gentle,
mindful, intentional approach.

Élodie carried her babies in her blue and green baby wrap.

What materials can be transformed?

I work with many materials charged with emotion:

  • jackets (leather, wool, cotton
);
  • baby wraps;
  • textiles that belonged to a loved one;
  • damaged yet meaningful pieces;
  • atypical, vintage, or precious fabrics...

Each material is carefully assessed to check:

  • strength and hold;
  • thickness and possible reinforcements;
  • usable quantity;
  • compatibility with leathercraft;
  • aesthetic potential...

To date, I haven’t come across a material that can resist me ;)

Transformation examples

Over the past 5 years, I accompanied you through more than 80 co-created projects.
A few examples:

Ester had recently lost her mother and entrusted me with one of her shirts to honor her memory.

’s baby wrapCharlotte

After ordering a bag from stock, Charlotte realized it would be too small. I offered to make her a custom, larger version, and she sent me her baby wrap to transform.

When Muriel discovered my custom sentimental-making service after walking into the studio during my 'Studio Clear-Out' sale, she asked me to help her enjoy her favorite bag of the last 30 years all over again...

A true co-creation,
much more than customization

Here, we go beyond customizing an existing model.
We create together a one-of-a-kind piece, designed for you and your story.

You choose:

  • - the shape;
  • - the size;
  • - how it’s worn;
  • - the (number and type of) pockets;
  • - the complementary materials;
  • - the thread colors;
  • - the hardware...

Your textile becomes the heart of the project.
Your story becomes its artistic direction.

How does it work?
The complete process, step by step

  1. 1. Preliminary chat (video call) You show me your textile—what it represents, its condition, its history.
    We talk about your wishes, your habits, your style.
  2. 2. Exploring your needs You describe your ideal piece: size, how it’s worn, usage, what you love, what you never want again.
    I show you possible complementary materials.
  3. 3. Concrete proposals I work on your project and send you:
    • model and pattern suggestions;
    • selections of complementary materials;
    • a provisional timeline;
    • lots of photos, videos, and mockups to help you picture it.
  4. 4. Project approval You choose your model and materials.
    I send you a detailed quote (model, details, finishes, schedule).
    The project starts after approval + a 40% deposit.
  5. 5. I create your piece
    • Tracing, cutting, interfacing, gluing, sewing

    • You choose a total surprise or full progress updates in images;
    • Small, light adjustments remain possible if needed.
  6. 6. Delivery of your precious piece I sew a bespoke dust bag for it.
    I pack it carefully, and send you the tracking number

    And we both wait, with emotion.

Pricing & turnaround

How much does it cost?
Each transformation is unique: it depends on the textile you entrust me with, its condition, the chosen model, the work required, and the complementary materials.
To give you a sense of range, most projects fall between €230 and €650, depending on complexity.

There are often several ways to work from the same textile:
we discuss it together so the result respects your story, your needs, and your budget.

And the timeline?
Depending on the season and the complexity of your project, allow 4 to 10 weeks on average.
Some projects move faster, others take a little longer—especially if you want to be more involved in the creative choices.

In any case:
we set a schedule together, clear and announced from the quote onward.

Unsure about budget or timing?
A short video call is enough to get clarity.
There is no “good” or “bad” question: every project starts with a conversation :)

Okay, but who am I?

I’m 45, married with two children, and have a workshop in the Loire where I practice sentimental leathercraft.

I’ve always had hands-on and artistic activities in my life, but they took a back seat.

After 20 years in the web industry, I needed to put meaning, materials, slowness
 at the center of my life.

I chose to work with “discarded” textiles and leathers, filled with stories, to give them a second life.

A doubt, a wish, a question?

Let’s talk about it together.
In 20 minutes, everything becomes simpler.

Mini FAQ

Can my textile really be transformed?
Most materials (leather, wool, baby wraps, a loved one’s clothing
) can be reused.
During the call, I clearly tell you what is feasible—or not.
What if my textile is damaged?
That’s common, and most of the time it’s not a problem.
We select the usable areas and I complete with premium materials to ensure strength and durability.
What if I have no idea what model I want?
No worries! I don’t lack imagination—or experience...
I guide you with questions and will suggest several visual directions (photos, videos, mockups).
