Materials

  • Exterior: Oscha Slings “Oakenshield - Last Moon of Autumn” (60% BCI organic combed cotton / 40% Natural Silk), reclaimed faux leathers (unknown composition) ;
  • Interior: 100% flax light canvas and synthetic satin (unknown composition) ;
  • Interfacing: 100% cotton interfacing and Decovil Light (42% polyester - 35% viscose - 23% polyamide).

Its detailed story

I'd been looking for an excuse to get and make this pattern for a long while, with its interesting shapes and opportunities for contrasts.

After a client entrusted me with her scrap of Oakenshield for a full custom bag, she decided to let me have the remaining small scrap and the pattern on it just called to that pattern's pointy flap.

I decided to make it as a continuity of that bag and used the same purple faux leather. I added small scraps of another goldish faux leather, and used some scraps of deep violet satin and some mustard colored flax light canvas.
Inside, as a reminder of the outside wrap scrap itself, I wanted to have a play of contrasts in both the colors and the materials, one being very shiny and soft, and the other more raw and nubby.

Bright gold hardware gives it an air of sophistication and makes this piece an elegant and practical wallet for you to carry in your bag or by itself thanks to its removable wrist strap.

Near-perfect?

Reduced price (original price 360€) because of a discreet (only visible when opened) topstitching accident, only aesthetic as it's been secured; and the faux leather scrap I reclaimed had a defect, visible on the back. See last two penultimate pictures.
