“Pink October – Redux” N° CO-206
"Cogitations" Range / Collection Femininities Breasts again… well, just one. A tribute to my sister, gone too soon, too fast. Taken by the crab I, too, must watch out for. Charity sale.
Its story
😳 Without the crab, I’d have a 60-year-old sister.
It feels a little surreal.
Not that I wouldn’t have loved that—on the contrary, I would have loved to share so many things with her.
But we didn’t grow up together and only became close (physically and emotionally) during her final months, in the urgency of what was coming.
So imagining her “old” feels… strange, to say the least.
🦀 October has always had a slightly different taste for me.
I’m under medical watch, waiting nervously for each test result.
And I try to find ways to honor her memory and support research and other women going through this.
👜 For me, that means creating a dedicated bag—sold to benefit a charity.
A bag I wanted to make truly different this year, one that would spark conversation.
What better way than to include it in my series of bags about women’s bodies, and to use this pattern that had long been an obvious choice for me?
For three years, it reminded me of a bikini without my knowing “what to do with it,” but with this triptych (completed by “Summer Body” and “Origines”), it all became clear.
I looked for a leather tone resembling my skin. Once again, in this series, it wouldn’t be upcycled, as I couldn’t find what I wanted from my usual sources. The lace and lining I both bought off from a fellow seamstress.
Once again, I sculpted a breast out of a piece of high-density foam bought from an upholsterer.
And here it is—a bag that proudly wears its message, to be carried with boldness and love.
