Its story
Last summer (2025), I was thrifting in Brittany again — I always find incredible fabrics there, and this time was no exception!
This painted, damask skirt — white as a wedding dress — caught my eye immediately with its style and colours. I knew straight away I could make several pieces from it, each with a different mood yet all cohesive.
The “Abondances" collection was born.
For this first piece, I chose sections featuring violet and petrol tones. Future pieces will highlight other facets of this “painting”.
I still had some yellow lambskin hides bought from a fellow leather worker, and scraps of synthetic satins — all in exactly the right shades... and the rainbow hardware felt like the obvious finishing touch to bring it all together.
The visual rigidity of this pattern offers the perfect counterpoint to the bold, painterly motif and its overflowing energy. It reminds me of a house — the kind where your belongings are safe.
A slightly more refined version of the Hutte - Casual Chic shoulder bag, it remains practical with its generous storage options.
This whole adventure got me thinking about a new use for those ceremonial dresses we keep but can rarely wear again (or even transform) as they are... if that resonates and you'd like a bespoke piece, come and talk to me!
