“Petit Bijou” N° KS-001

10 × 10 cm Kinusaiga textile picture of a stylised clitoris in black glitter canvas, on a fuchsia pink poplin background, in very graphic curved shapes.

"Cogitations" Range / Collection Femininities A feminist object that does better than a slogan. A small graphic picture in glitter and fuchsia pink, which not everyone decodes at first glance.

Its story

I didn't want to make twee Kinusaiga. I wanted less naive patterns, things you don't see elsewhere, and something very graphic, very geometric.

The work of Maryon Simon (@tue_l.amour), artist, stained-glass maker and feminist, inspired me a lot.
Hence the idea of drawing breasts and clitorises. Later on, I'll work them in lots of colours, but the first one, I wanted girly, for once.
It's the first Kinusaiga piece I'm happy enough with to put up for sale 🥹

The glitter comes from a canvas I had left over from the Ra-ta-tam pouch and the “Alice” sling bag. I paired it with offcuts of fuchsia pink poplin: a colour pop enough to catch the eye, but smooth enough to leave all the room to the glitter, by contrast.

The result has a little touch of protest, without overdoing it either: at 10 × 10 cm, we're a long way from a mural. Very colourful, but easy on the eye, and graphic enough that not everyone gets it straight away: those who know, know.
A slightly funny, slightly cheeky object that starts conversations with the people who drop by your place. And a gift idea for THAT friend who already owns every feminist mug in the world 🙄

Want to see where the glitter canvas comes from?
The Ra-ta-tam pouch “Alice” is still available, the “Alice” sling bag has already found its home.

And if it's the technique that caught your eye: Kinusaiga can be learned.

Common questions

What is a Kinusaiga textile panel?

Kinusaiga is a Japanese craft technique that involves creating panels by tucking pieces of fabric into grooves cut into polystyrene, mounted on a wooden backing.

The result looks like a fabric stained glass window: crisp, graphic shapes, vivid colours, subtle relief, and the living texture of real textile on top of it all.

For you, it's a way to transform your sentimental fabrics into a genuine work of art to hang on your wall: a babywearing wrap, a scarf, a childhood fabric... cut, rearranged, framed. The textile is no longer tucked away in a cupboard: it's displayed, celebrated.

Would you rather be guided? I also run small-group workshops (six people maximum, 2.5 hours, €40 per person, snack on the house), with ready-made patterns or your own fabric. All the details and next dates on kinusaiga-sentimental.fr.

I offer fully bespoke Kinusaiga panels: pattern, size, colour palette, fabric layout, everything is decided together. If this idea speaks to you, let's talk it through during a discovery call.
