“Wōkorico”  CO-208

A shoulder bag made from a wax-style fabric and scraps of black and pink leather, lined with turquoise fabric.

"Cogitations" Range / Collection Memory Striking colours, an ultra-modern silhouette, a pattern that makes you look twice... A seriously chic bag with just the right amount of attitude.

Its story

An African-style fabric, printed in China, with a distinctly French motif... quite a programme!
Beyond its undeniably powerful aesthetic, it got me thinking about globalisation and cultural appropriation — two subjects that matter a great deal to me (especially the latter). It was only fitting that it should join the “Memory” collection of the “Cogitations” range.

I was looking for a fabric worthy of a pattern that had caught my eye when it came out a few months earlier. By chance, I found this wax-style piece and knew immediately it was the one.
I say “wax-style” because it is clearly inspired by wax fabric, but does not technically qualify as one — it is printed rather than painted or dyed.

It was all the more perfect because I'd had these little scraps of pink leather for two years, unable to use them — not every pink goes with every pink, and I am very particular about mixing shades of the same colour... and this was exactly the right one. 😍
The black leather that accompanies it is rich in tone and texture, and I love the “marking” I deliberately kept on the base of the bag.

Several hours later: a bag that is very much like you — chic, bold, and self-assured... without forgetting to be prac(tic)al.

Where do the fabrics and leathers used in Studio Créatif pieces come from?

As a rule, these are never the fabrics you entrust to me for a bespoke piece: those remain yours alone. The only exception: sometimes a client explicitly gives me her offcuts and asks me to find them a new life elsewhere. In that specific case, and only with her agreement, they may end up in a Studio Créatif creation.

Outside of these particular cases, Studio Créatif pieces come from my own research: rescued leathers, fabrics found at flea markets or second-hand, dormant stocks from luxury houses, offcuts from high-end leather goods... I choose and combine them following my inspiration of the moment, with no specific order behind them.

Find out more about my materials on the Soulful Values page.

What do you do with your production offcuts?

Your own bespoke fabric offcuts aren't covered here: they're always sent back to you with your finished piece, unless you tell me to keep them or dispose of them differently.

As for my own production offcuts: nothing is thrown away if I can help it. They're reused in my workshop for reinforcement, worked into mosaics to create larger pieces, or used as is for small creations (keychains, bookmarks...). The rest is given away depending on its nature and size: to other artisans (such as jewellery makers), or to associations, community centres and schools for their workshops.

What's the difference between the 'Cogitations' and 'Intuitions' ranges?

These two ranges reflect two different creative intentions, but share the same level of care and craftsmanship.

Cogitations: these pieces carry something. They illustrate a reflection, stand for an idea, can spark a conversation. Feminism, heritage, ecology, identity... When you wear a Cogitations piece, you're making a statement — sometimes subtly, sometimes very clearly.

Intuitions: these pieces exist for pure pleasure. A colour that vibrates, a texture that draws you in, a graphic tension that knows how to stay elegant. No declared message — just the feeling. Guaranteed to give you a little thrill.

In both cases, I only create what I feel a genuine need to bring into the world. Not to please everyone: to speak to someone. Maybe you.

Charlotte’s baby wrap

After ordering a bag from stock, Charlotte realized it would be too small. I offered to make her a custom, larger version, and she sent me her baby wrap to transform.
